Mission and Vision

Hebron Home is a ministry with a four-fold mission, to Reach-out, Restore, Reorient and Release. We believe that through understanding each of our participants cultural backgrounds, specific circumstances, and challenges, we will be more effective in reaching them with the Good News of Christ.

Our Name:

The name Hebron is a reference to the city of Hebron, located in modern day Palestine. History records this city as the resting place of the biblical Abraham and others in his lineage. As a result, it is an important city to both Christians and Muslims.

Similarly, at Hebron Home, we seek to be an important crossroad for both Islam and Christianity in West Africa. Our experience has taught us that through the process of helping these groups find common ground, opportunities for encounters with Jesus are abundant.

Our Strategy:

Reach out, Reorient, Restore & Release

Reach-out

One of our primary focuses is evangelism. Therefore, we go to communities that have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and share with them His message of love and redemption. After establishing an intentional relationship of respect and trust, the Gospel is presented in a manner that they can understand. Many conversations between Muslims and Christians break down in this initial process because the Church has not taken the necessary time to listen and understand the genuine questions that Muslims have about the faith. Instead, our approach focuses on the similarities between Christianity and Islam, which helps to form a common understanding of God that then easily leads to a clear introduction of the Gospel.

Reorient

Jesus taught us in Matthew 28:18-20 that discipleship comes through “teaching them to obey” and “baptizing.” Our method of discipleship similarly begins with the in-depth teaching of Scripture that emphasizes God’s redemptive plan:

  1. The Promise of Redemption, Gen. 3:15
  2. The Call of Abraham, Gen. 12:3
  3. The Law, Exodus 19-31
  4. The Eternal Kingdom, Samuel 7:16
  5. Jesus the Covenant of Grace, John 1:1-16
  6. The Holy Spirit, Acts 2
  7. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ, Revelation

Restore

Those who come into our program have lost everything to follow Christ. This makes vocational training a vital component of their continued success. Those involved in the program have the opportunity to learn various skills such as livestock management, dairy production, dry cleaning, computer literacy, shoe manufacturing, sewing, and catering, just to name a few. These skills will enable them to be Christ’s ambassador wherever they go and will allow them to reintegrate into the local community. We do not, however, expect those enrolled in the program to come alone. Families are encouraged to be involved and are supported while resettling.

Release

While many other organizations have chosen to focus on developing future pastors, the primary objective of Hebron Home is to release people back into the community at large after their completion of our program. This ensures that even more Muslims will engage with Christ’s love, as those leaving our program interact with them on a daily basis and share their stories of grace and mercy.

Why We do This:

Our Vision

We believe that everyone should, “have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).” Our vision is a world UNITED in Christ where everyone, regardless of their background, has their spiritual, mental, emotional, and social needs addressed. A world where individuals have the time and resources to form meaningful relationships with God and others.
